IPS e.max

Strength Durability Esthetics

IPS e.max delivers the ultimate in metal-free esthetics and strength utilizing press technologies. Designed with versatility and simplicity in mind, IPS e.max lets you selects from highly esthetic and strong lithium disilicate or zirconia giving you the ability to achieve beautiful restorations in any clinical situation. IPS e.max lithium disilicate restorations exhibit superior durability featuring 360-400 MPa of flexural strength. When fabricated to full-contour, the monolithic structure is the most robust ceramic system tested to date. The opalescence, translucency and light diffusion properties of IPS e.max lithium disilicate were all designed to replicate natural tooth structure for beauty and undetectable restorations.

With IPS e.max Press Lithium Disilicate we provide:

  • Anterior Crowns

  • Posterior Crowns

  • Veneers

  • Thin Veneers (0.03mm)

  • Anterior Bridges

  • Inlay

  • Onlay

  • Implant Restorations

The high strength of IPS e.max lithium disilicate offers dentists a choice to adhesively bond or to conventionally cement their restorations. Coordinated especially for Ivoclar Vivadent restorative materials, Ivoclar Vivadent recommends the following cements t maximize the performance and esthetics of IPS e.max restorations.

Adhesive Resin Cements

For maximum bond strengths and in situations where adequate retention is not possible in the prep design (e.g. veneers, inlays/onlays) adhesive cementation is recommended. There are no minimum requirements for adhesive cementation. Adhesive cementation will provide higher immediate bond strengths and a better marginal seal.

All types of restorations

  • Including Feldspathic and Leucite

Any preparation design

  • Retentive and non-retentive

Any Thickness

  • Including "thin" veneer restorations

Self-adhesive Resin Cements

Self-adhesive resin cements combine an easy conventional cementation technique, with the advantages of "resin luting-composite"; increased strength, low solubility, high-level radiopacity and light-cure capabilities. Due to the lower bond strengths offered by this category of cements, it is strongly recommend that self-adhesive resin cements only be utilized solutions where a conventional cement would normally be used; retentive prep design, high strength restoration with adequate thickness and tight fit.

High-strength restorations only

  • Lithium disilicate (e.g. IPS e.max)

  • Metal & Metal-Ceramic

  • Oxide Ceramic (Zirconia, Alumina)

Adequate retention in prep design

  • Less than 8 degree taper

  • Minimum 4mm height

Adequate thickness of restoration

  • Greater than 1.0mm for anterior

  • Greater than 1.5mm for posterior
